GIMP "ReadImage()" BMP Image Parsing Integer Overflow Vulnerability

A vulnerability has been identified in GIMP, which could be exploited by attackers to compromise a vulnerable system. This issue is caused by an integer overflow error in the "ReadImage()" [plug-ins/file-bmp/bmp-read.c] function when processing malformed BMP images, which could be exploited by attackers to crash an affected application or execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted image file.
